Sienna Says
• "I don't have a problem with nudity as long as it's relevant. I know Layer Cake doesn't stand up to that, but I’ve done both films and I’m proud of them." [on going nudity in Alfie and Layer Cake]
• "I was thrilled to be part of it but I only worked a week for the film, I only have a very small part."
• "My character is a sexy, steamy, saucy East End girl. Our very first scene was a love scene, so it was really full-on. It was a lot of snogging and sitting on top of him but not starkers. I had a skirt and top on and then went into the bathroom and changed into knickers, bra and suspenders and came out."
• "I have this scene where I had to dance drunkenly, horribly, and I'm not Kylie bloody Minogue. It was in a club with 200 extras and just me dancing and looking at the camera. It went on and on for an entire song and it was just torture. I had a glass of wine beforehand to get me going."
• "I'm the honorary girl. They never have girls in their films, so I love the fact that I was a part of that."
Trivia
• Sienna only has 5 short scenes, and spent only a week shooting this movie
• The song Nikki dances to in the club is called 'You Got The Love', by The Source ft. Candi Staton
• The original ending (the one Sony Pictures wanted to use) showed XXXX driving off in his car with Tammy. The ending we see in the movie was secretly filmed by Matthew Vaughn and showed to test audiences, who received it positively, and was put in by popular demand.
• Sienna was nominated for Best Newcomer at the Empire Awards in 2004 for both her role in this film and for Alfie.
Reviews
• UrbanCinefile.com.au: "Sienna Miller has a small role as the alluring Tammy, with whom he has an instant attraction, and her recent high profile since Alfie will ensure maximum billing."
• DVDTimes.co.uk: "Only the gorgeous Miller is underused, but that was to be expected in this sea of tough-guy cocknies. She just about holds her own as the films principle female, and no men will complain about her lingerie scene (I didn’t)."
• CinemaBlend.com: "Miller is totally wasted in the role of Gambon’s wayward daughter who decides to take a liking to our main character. The problem is that this relationship is never explored or examined and is executed so hamfistedly that seems to exist solely to prove to the audience that the main character is without a doubt a confident heterosexual. Good gangster movies usually provide female characters to present some kind of alternate view of the gangland lifestyle or to show the main character’s attitudes towards the fairer sex and how their choice of profession affects that. Here it serves little more purpose than barely PG-13 rated titillation."
• InFIlmc.com.au: "An incidental role by Sienna Miller as Tammy is little more than a cliché."
• Jam! Movies: "It's also funny. Layer Cake has tasty sprinkles of black humour throughout. What we liked best is that the film assumes a viewer has enough smarts to keep up. That's always attractive."
